Additions
Venmo on the Product and Cart Pages
Venmo can now be shown on the Product Page and Cart Page. Previously, the Venmo Payment Sections setting didn't offer either page, because Venmo didn't support letting customers choose their shipping address inside the payment popup — something the product and cart page buttons depend on. Venmo now supports this, so customers can pick or change their shipping address in the Venmo popup and see shipping and totals update, just like they can with PayPal.
To turn it on, select Product Page and/or Cart Page in Venmo Payment Sections. The Cart Page option also applies to the WooCommerce Cart block.
Individual products also have a new Venmo Enabled option in their PayPal product settings, so you can control Venmo on a per-product basis. It's enabled by default when Venmo is enabled and Product Page is selected in Venmo Payment Sections.
Existing stores are not changed automatically — Venmo Payment Sections still defaults to the checkout and order pay pages, so Venmo won't appear on the product or cart page until you select them.
Bug Fixes
Venmo Payments Failing With a "NOT_AUTHORIZED" Error
After a customer approved a Venmo payment, checkout could fail with a NOT_AUTHORIZED / PERMISSION_DENIED error. This is caused by an issue on PayPal's side: when the plugin asked PayPal's checkout script for the approved order's details (such as the customer's name and address), PayPal refused the request for Venmo orders, even though the payment had been approved. PayPal is investigating the problem.
The error is shown at the top of the checkout page and looks similar to this:
Api: /smart/api/order/1AB23456CD789012E returned ack: permission_denied
(Corr ID: a1b2c3d4e5f60)
{
"ack": "permission_denied",
"message": "Insufficient privileges"
}
The plugin now works around it. If PayPal's script can't return the order details, the plugin fetches them directly from PayPal using your store's API credentials and checkout continues normally. This applies to the checkout, cart, mini-cart, product, and order pay pages, as well as the WooCommerce Cart and Checkout blocks. For security, the plugin only returns the details of the PayPal order that belongs to the current customer's checkout.
Legacy Express Checkout Not Filling In the Customer's Address
When using the legacy (billing agreement) integration with the Disable PayPal Shipping Address option enabled, paying with the express PayPal or Venmo buttons at the top of the checkout page filled in the customer's name, email, and phone, but left the billing and shipping address fields empty or unchanged. This has been fixed — the address the customer selected in PayPal or Venmo is now copied into the checkout form, and shipping and totals are recalculated before the order is placed.
